The StressBuddy App

The StressBuddy App

StressBuddy is an app designed to help people deal with their stress. It is available on iOS and Android.

How StressBuddy Works

Download StressBuddy from the App Store of Google Play. Then, whenever you’re feeling stressed, open it up! It will automatically open up the default experience for you. In StressBuddy Volume 1, the default experience is Smoosh 2, which allows you to drag your finger around on the screen, creating a trail of ever-changing colors.

Unlike actual therapy apps that focus on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) or acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) like Reflective, there isn’t anything clinically viable with StressBuddy. It’s just made for fun and comfort.

There are usually hidden features in every StressBuddy app. In StressBuddy Volume 1, for example, you can tap around the screen to find a hidden menu containing 4 additional experiences.

StressBuddy is ad-free so you can get right to what you’re looking for without having to wait for some video about cheap pants or some coin-collecting game.

Do Stress Apps Help?

It really depends on what you’re trying to get help with or how you define help. It’s a better alternative to browsing social media if you, like me, feel the negative impact of platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. The experiences are mindless enough that you can get into your head and hopefully sort through your thoughts.

But there are not apps in the world that will help you more than conventional therapy or at the very least human interaction.

Use stress apps, like StressBuddy, to pass the time and find a breather. But don’t expect them to cure you.
