StressBuddy is not the best free stress for Android, but that’s only because it isn’t free. Most of the free apps you find either come with in-app purchase or, worse, ads. StressBuddy is priced to be a one-time forgettably cheap cost, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
What makes StressBuddy the best app for stress and anxiety?
Experiences with apps are subjective. Calling any app “the best” is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. What makes StressBuddy beloved is the simplicity of the app. You open it up and immediately are in a pseudo-therapeutic experience. In StressBuddy Volume 1, the app opens to Smoosh 2, a simple drawing experience where you can create a colorful trail with your finger, endlessly.
If you find the hidden menu, you’ll also be able to play around with Smoosh, two different breathing exercises, including box breathing, and Galaxy Quest.
StressBuddy doesn’t claim to be anything it isn’t. It is a mindless and fun experience to help you clear your thoughts. Which is really all we need a lot of time.
You can enjoy StressBuddy when you’re not stressed or anxious as well, as just a nice and pleasant way to pass the time when you have a few awkward moments and you don’t want to doom-scroll on social media.
Are apps for stress and anxiety helpful?
How helpful an app is really depends on the app and how you use it. In my experience I’ve found that most self-help apps are only effective for however long I stay motivated to use them. Apps like Reflective are helpful for longer because you can use them with your therapist.
StressBuddy is not going to cure you of anything. But it might brighten your day enough to help push you through. And if your thoughts wander in the right direction, you might even find an epiphany or two that helps sets your mind straight.
Whichever app you do end up choosing, I just hope it helps you. And I’m sorry you’re in a state where you’re looking for an app in the first place.
